The on/off hack explained

Do you get broadband rage when your internet connection drops out? It’s a thing! In the workplace it’s certainly frustrating to suddenly grind to a halt so here’s quick explanation from Blue Click IT about what you can do and what might be causing the issue.

If your internet goes down, the first thing we always recommend is to simply turn the router on and off at the mains and you’d be surprised how effective this is at getting you back up and running. Why is this simple approach effective? Your router might look like a small, unassuming box that doesn’t do much other than home a few wires, but inside there’s quite a lot going on.

To help manage the vast amount of data traffic that passes through it, your router contains a Central Processing Unit, a Memory, a Main Board, an Operating System and it’s own Immediate Language. All very technical and there’s no need for you to know what each of these parts do but bear in mind that when your router is dealing with a lot of internet traffic and pushing it out to several devices, it can slow down that much it stops entirely. And that’s why a simple on and off hack will re-set the router, ready to go again.

Of course, if your broadband is dropping out regularly then they may something more serious going on behind the scenes. We would be more than happy to review your existing broadband service as there are lots of different types of broadbands available so it’s worth reviewing from time to time.
