It hasn’t come as shock to us that on Monday 13 May, NEC announced their decision to stop providing on-premise telephone systems. It follows Panasonic’s decision in 2020 to also withdraw from the on-premise market in favour of the future-forward hosted telephone systems.
And their popularity is justified; hosted telephone systems suit the needs of the modern workplace more than traditional telephone systems and come with a range of features for the end user to enjoy.
From being able to take a call from anywhere – literally anywhere in the world! – to rapid scalability at very little cost compared to traditional telephony.
Manufacturers of hosted telephone systems, such as Splicecom and 3CX, have configured their hosted solutions to make them compatible with the existing hardware of NEC and Panasonic on-premise systems, so the cost of upgrading from these obsolete telephone systems is not as expensive or laborious as you may first think. And, with the impending BT switch off of their old copper lines, making the transition to hosted telephony will soon become a necessity rather than a choice.
