On 8 April 2022 both Hubtel Communications and Blue Click IT became Cyber Essentials accredited.

What is Cyber Essentials?
Cyber Essentials is a scheme that is backed by the Government and operated by the National Centre for Cyber Security. The scheme was launched in 2014 as a means to offer protection for organisations of all sizes against the growing threat of cyber attacks and cyber crime. Cyber Essentials enables organisations to implement basic security measures that will protect against cyber crime and achieving Cyber Essentials status demonstrates your commitment to cyber security.

Why you need Cyber Essentials
It’s believed that around 80% of cyber crime could have been prevented with just basic security measures in place and with cyber crime on the increase, now would be a good time for you to consider how effective your IT would be against such an attack on your business. Cyber crime can be either sophisticated or quite basic, but the perpetrators behind the crime will always rely on you having your guard down. Our advise is to keep your guard up at all times and work on the assumption that you will, at some point, be a target for cyber crime.

The Cyber Essentials process isn’t overly complicated but it will give you a clear picture of your organisation’s cyber security levels. It will help you identify any gaps and remedy them as soon as possible. It’s also a unique selling point – do your competitors comply with Cyber Essentials and guarantee that personal data is held securely?

Some Government contracts require Cyber Essentials certification before contracts are awarded and it’s our belief that this framework will eventually become more widely adopted in the private sector as organisations look to fortify their security measures.
