Introducing Fewcott Healthcare
Fewcott Healthcare is a group of three nursing homes in Oxfordshire. They provide personalised care for their residents by combining one-to-one support with engaging activities and experiences within a homely and well-maintained environment.
They have been classed as ‘Outstanding’ in their CQC (Care Quality Commission) report, accredited with a Gold Standard Frameworks Award and have a host of other awards and accreditations to their name.
Their challenge
When businesses are operating across multiple sites, even within the same county or area, it can be difficult to keep communication flowing.
At the time we teamed up with Fewcott Healthcare, they were looking for a communications solution that reliably connected their three homes: Fewcott House, St. Anne’s and Leafield.
Priding themselves on providing a “home-like, family environment” for their residents, they were keen to carry through their ‘family’ feeling for staff across their three homes with one dedicated IT and telecoms provider.
The solution
IT
The Hubtel IT team operates Fewcott Healthcare’s broadband, day-to-day IT support and cyber security, ensuring the smooth and safe running of their operations.
Before onboarding with Hubtel IT, Fewcott Healthcare managed their day-to-day IT requirements in-house, until they outgrew their internal capabilities and expertise.
At this point, they recognised the need to outsource their IT to a Managed Service Provider who would be able to improve, modernise and consult on their current IT infrastructure, paving the way forward for a scalable infrastructure.
Cloud computing is one direction that we’ve taken Fewcott in when it came to providing a scalable network, We moved them from traditional off-prem solutions to a Cloud-based infrastructure that not only enables their staff to access their network from either of their three locations, but it also formed the basis for their disaster recovery plan and backup solutions,
We’re fortunate that Fewcott share our passion for cyber security, and recognise that their IT network has many layers to it that need protecting. Cyber crime doesn’t discriminate and hackers will go after any type of organisation, even those whose jobs it is to protect the most vulnerable in our community.
Telecoms
Our very first job for Fewcott was to install a Panasonic telephone system. Back in the day when Panasonics were the market leader in telecom systems, it would have been hard to imagine that, just a few years later, technology would have advanced and emerged in the form of VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol). Not one to stand still, Fewcott allowed us to transition them from their Panasonic to a VoIP system, and were in fact one of the first customers who made this transition.
Fewcott’s telecoms system were again upgraded as VoIP paved the way forward for hosted telephony. The switch to a hosted telephone system provides Fewcott Healthcare with:

CCTV
As well as regular IT and telecoms, Hubtel IT provides CCTV systems to help businesses protect themselves from intruders, thieves and vandals.
Due to the nature of their business, caring for vulnerable adults, this is a non-negotiable part of their package.

Our time working with Fewcott Healthcare so far has been full of innovation, development and positive relationships.
